There was a significant fire event at the Chandan Dropping Zone that fateful night. As soon as he heard the alert, Captain Anshuman Singh bolted from his Fibre Glass Hut to help. Captain Anshuman Singh showed unmatched bravery by pulling four or five people out of a nearby hut that was engulfed in flames and about to catch fire. His fast thinking and decisive actions prevented fatalities by directing the group to a safe area.

Captain Anshuman Singh showed even more bravery when he saw the Medical Investigation room on fire. He went back to his hut in spite of the danger to get a medical aid kit. Sadly, the fire spread quickly due to the strong winds, consuming his shelter and trapping him inside. It was not possible to save Captain Anshuman Singh, even after numerous tries. When the fire was out, his mortal remains were found.

The greatest traditions of the Indian Army are exemplified by Captain Anshuman Singh’s tremendous bravery and tenacity, which he displayed with complete disregard for his personal safety. Captain Anshuman Singh is nominated for a distinguished award in honor of his valorous sacrifice and unwavering dedication to service. Future generations of troops will continue to be inspired by his bravery and selflessness.

When he returned to his hut with a medical aid kit, Captain Singh saw that the Medical Investigation room was on fire. Sadly, strong winds caused the fire to spread quickly, trapping him. With her hands clasped, Smriti Singh, the widow of Captain Anshuman Singh, stood in front of President Droupadi Murmu. Her mother, Captain Singh, stood by her, their mutual sorrow evident. They were both at Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive the Kirti Chakra, the second-highest gallantry honor in India, which was given to Captain Singh posthumously for his valor in a Siachen fire incident.

“He used to tell me that if I died, the brass would be on my breast.. “I wouldn’t die in the way that most people do,” Smriti Singh said.

.”We got together our first day of college. I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but it was love at first sight. After a month, he was admitted to the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC).. He was accepted into a medical institution after we first met at an engineering college. incredibly smart man. After only one month of dating, the two went on to have an eight-year long distance relationship,” she continued. “That’s when we decided to tie the knot. Unfortunately, he was posted to Siachen two months after we were married.”

Captain Singh served as a medical officer in the Siachen Glacier region while assigned to 26 Punjab. Around three in the morning on July 19, 2023, an Indian Army munitions depot caught fire due to a short circuit. When Captain Singh noticed a fiberglass hut on fire, he moved quickly to save the people within. He was able to save four or five people, but the fire quickly spread to a medical investigation room nearby.

Captain Singh returned to the burning building. He tried to get out of the flames, but was unable to do so and perished inside.

“Sadly, he was posted to Siachen two months after we were married,” Ms. Singh recalled. “On July 18, we had a lengthy discussion regarding our lives in fifty years. I got a call early on July 19 telling me he had passed away,” she remarked.

“Perhaps it is true now that I am holding the Kirti Chakra. He’s a hero, so it’s all good. We have some control over our life. “”He has sacrificed everything to protect his army family and other families,” Mrs.. Singh remarked.
